United Singhs outclass Lahore Lions with record difference in Wave World Kabaddi League at 76-38

Jalandhar, October 18: United Singhs scored the biggest win of the Wave World Kabaddi League as they trounced Lahore Lions 76-38 in the second match of the day in Jalandhar. Lahore, who were playing after a long gap, seemed totally out of rhythm and form.
For United, the win carried them to the joint second place alongside California Eagles, who had won their match earlier in the evening against Yo Yo Tigers 68-48 as both matches ended in one-sided verdicts on Saturday.
United’s skipper and top stopper Sandeep Singh Sandhu was in exceptional form as he executed 12 successful stops, a rare feat indeed in this format, where Raiders are usually more successful.
Lahore Lions were under pressure in offence and defence, even though their raider Shafiq Ahmad Chisti waged a lone battle.
The first quarter witnessed excellent stops by United Singhs stopper Sandeep Singh and Jagtar Singh. In comparison Lahore Lions stopper Mohammad Aslam Dogar earned one stop point for his team. Aggressive raids by United Singhs’ Gagandeep Nagra (4) and Lovepreet Singh (3) gave them an edge over their opponents. Singhs closed the quarter at 17-13.
Into the second quarter Lahore Lions made futile attempts to make a comeback. Unstoppable Gagandeep Nagra and Navpreet Kumar had five successful raids each for United Singhs, whose Sandeep Sandhu led from the front with four stops. Lahore’s Shafiq and Mohammad Khan won three and two raids respectively but United cruised ahead 37-22.
In the third session Sandeep Sandhu (5 stops) took his team to a comfortable position. United Singhs raiders Gagandeep Nagra and Navpreet Kumar with four successful raids by each further pushed their team to winning position as the score moved to 57-30 for United.
The final quarter was again dominated by United Singhs despite their captain Sandeep Singh getting injured early in the quarter. But United Singhs did not relent and established a record margin in the score line at the Wave World Kabaddi League winning 76-38 for a record difference of 38 points
